Jim is interim Chairman of Tesco Bank. Jim's Retail Financial Services career spans in excess of 40 years, the majority of which was spent at Nationwide Building Society. Posts held included main Board appointments as Retail Operations Director and Group services Director at Nationwide as well as the CEO role at both Dunfermline and Newcastle Building Societies.
Over the years Jim has gained experience from a wide range of appointments which have included strategic responsibility for Branches, Telephony, Internet Services, Information Technology, Product Development, Central Support Services and Life Company and Unit Trust Management at times leading teams in excess of 9,000 people. Throughout his career Jim has held a passion for developing the people he works with to provide excellent customer service.
Jim has previously held a number of other non-executive directorships. Jim joined the Tesco Bank Board in May 2017.
Sir John is the Bank’s Senior Independent Non-Executive Director and is to be appointed as the new Chairman of Tesco Bank, effective from 7 July 2020.
Sir John has considerable financial services experience gained as Second Permanent Secretary at HM Treasury and Chairman of Legal & General. Sir John was at the heart of the UK Government's response to the financial crisis, handling the rescue of Northern Rock and leading negotiations with RBS, Lloyds and HBOS on their combined £37bn recapitalisation. He was also the first CEO of UK Financial Investments, the government body charged with managing the taxpayer's banking interests.
From 2010-2012, Sir John was Global Co-Head of the Financial Institutions Group at Rothschild and became Chairman of Legal & General in 2016. In 2018, he was appointed to lead an independent review of the Financial Reporting Council, recommending its replacement by a new and strengthened Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority. In addition to his roles at Tesco Bank and Legal & General, he is Chair of UK Research and Innovation, Deputy Chair of the National Gallery, and a Trustee of Royal Opera House Covent Garden Foundation.
Sir John joined the Tesco Bank Board in November 2019.
Robert is an Independent Non-Executive Director. Robert has spent over 35 years working in the financial services sector. Until late 2014, he was Chief Risk Officer and member of the Executive Board of Danske Bank, Denmark's largest financial enterprise, where he was also a member of the board of directors of the group's main UK and Finnish subsidiaries.
Previously, Robert has held senior risk management positions in Barclays, The Royal Bank of Scotland and ING Group and has a broad international experience of the sector including assignments based in Denmark, The Netherlands and France.
Robert joined the Tesco Bank Board in December 2014 and currently Chairs the Board Risk Committee.
Jacqui is an Independent Non-Executive Director. An experienced CEO from the technology industry, Jacqui is the former CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services UK, Ireland, Middle East Mediterranean and Africa, a $3bn P&L and 10,000 people business serving large corporate and mid-sized companies with transformational digital, technology and business process solutions.
She has extensive global experience including living and working in Silicon Valley, California for 3 years with Meg Whitman, Chairman and CEO Hewlett Packard as Chief of Staff focused on a new company strategy and transformation. Prior to Hewlett Packard she worked for Electronic Data Systems, acquired by HP in 2008 and KPMG.
Jacqui is Non-Executive Director Wood PLC, Tesco Bank and Croda PLC. In 2018 she won the Sunday Times NED to watch award in honour of Dame Helen Alexander.
She is a Trustee of Engineering UK, a not for profit organisation focussed on inspiring young people from all kinds of backgrounds into Engineering and Technology careers. She is a member of the Scottish First Minister's Advisory Board for Women and Girls aimed at improving Gender Equality, as well as a business advisor to Engie UK, a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and an inaugural mentor in the Scottish Women's Mentoring scheme.
Jacqui chaired the public services strategy board for the Confederation of Business and Industry and was a board member of the Tech Partnership, the industry body aimed at improving UK technology skills.
She is passionate about what technology can enable, getting young people from all backgrounds interested in STEM, advancing more women into executive careers and progressing gender equality.
Jacqui joined the Tesco Bank Board in April 2018.
Simon is an Independent Non-Executive Director. He has worked in financial services for over 30 years and has deep experience in both general and life insurance in the UK, Europe and Asia. He spent 19 years with Aviva and his roles there included Chief Executive of the RAC, having served as Chief Exectuitve of the general insurance business in the UK and latterly running the insurance businesses in 14 markets across Eastern Europe and Asia. He was a member of Aviva's executive committee for six years and sat on numerous boards throughout the group.
Simon was Chairman of the Motor Insurers Bureau from 2001 to 2007. He holds an Economics degree from Durham University and is Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Simon is also a visiting professor in insurance at the Southwest University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, China.
He chairs the Board of Tesco Underwriting Limited, is a Director of Suncorp Group in Australia and is a Non-Executive Director of Prudential Corporation Asia and Pacific Life Reinsurance.
Simon joined the Tesco Bank Board in November 2013.
Jim is an Independent Non-Executive Director. He is currently Group Finance Director at Phoenix Group Holdings and joined their Board of Directors in June 2012 with responsibility for Finance, Treasury and Investor Relations.
Between April 2010 and December 2011, Jim was Chief Financial Officer of Northern Rock plc. Prior to that, between 1988 and 2010, he worked for Lloyds Banking Group plc (formerly Lloyds TSB Group plc) in a number of senior finance and strategy related roles, latterly as Finance Director of Scottish Widows Group plc and Director of Finance for the Insurance and Investments Division. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant whilst at Coopers and Lybrand.

Amanda is an Independent Non-Executive Director. Amanda has over 30 years of marketing experience in both Agencies and Clients across numerous sectors including: financial services, professional service and FMCG sectors. She is the former Global Head of Marketing for Commercial Banking and Global Banking and Markets at HSBC where she was a member of the Executive team that ran the international commercial bank in over 55 markets from 2011 to 2015. Amanda began her career at Barclays Bank before moving to Limbo (Bartle Bogle Hegarty). She also set up a consultancy recognising the opportunity to focus on customer experience. She joined HSBC in the UK in 2000, moving to a European role in 2006 and global role in 2011.
Amanda is a Non-Executive Director of The British Business Bank, Countrywide plc, and the Government Communications Service Ministerial Board (UK and International). She is also a Fellow of The Marketing Society and a member of WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications London).
Amanda joined the Tesco Bank Board in December 2016 and currently Chairs the Remuneration Committee.
Alan is an Independent Non-Executive Director. Alan became Chief Financial Officer for Tesco PLC and joined its Board in September 2014.
Alan has extensive financial experience in retail having been CFO at Marks & Spencer and WH Smith. He started his career in investment banking with HSBC. He became CFO at Thomas Cook Holdings in 1998 and was appointed UK CEO in 2001. From there he moved to WH Smith as Group CFO. In 2008 he was appointed CFO at AWAS, a leading aircraft leasing business, before moving to M&S in 2010. He is also a Non-executive Director of Diageo plc where he Chairs the Audit Committee.
Alan joined the Tesco Bank Board in January 2017.
Gerry started as Chief Executive of Tesco Bank in August 2018 and is a member of the Tesco executive committee.
Prior to joining Tesco, Gerry has held a number of leadership roles in financial services. Most recently he served as Chief Executive Officer of Ulster Bank Ireland.
Before joining Ulster Bank, Gerry served as Chief Executive Officer of Danske Bank UK (formerly Northern Bank) for eight years, successfully leading the organisation in the aftermath of the financial crisis. Earlier in his career, Gerry also held roles at Bank of Ireland, McKinsey & Co., and the UK Civil Service.
Outside of financial services, Gerry served as Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council at the University of Ulster, President of the Institute of Banking in Ireland, and he is currently Chairman of the Irish Football Association.
Gerry is an Economics graduate from Cambridge University and received his MBA from Ulster Business School. He is married to Una and has four children.
Richard joined Tesco Bank in June 2009 and performed the roles of Audit Director, Finance Director (Banking) and Financial & Credit Risk Director before being appointed as Chief Risk Officer in January 2017. Before joining Tesco Bank, Richard held a range of internal audit roles with RBS and Barclays. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in external audit.
Richard is a graduate of The University of Nottingham, has an MBA from The University of Edinburgh, is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA), and is an Associate Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (AMCT).
Declan is the Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Tesco Bank, Declan spent 14 years at the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, latterly as Chief Finance and Administrative Officer in the Group's restructuring division. Prior roles at RBS included Chief Financial Officer, Non-Core Division, and Chief Financial Officer, Global Restructuring Group.
Declan is a graduate of University College Dublin and the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, Dublin, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Michael Mustard was appointed Company Secretary to the Board in May 2014.
He joined Tesco bank as Legal Director in April 2014 from Citi where he was a senior lawyer in the EMEA Consumer business. Michael was previously a lawyer at Allen & Overy LLP, worked in private equity and is a qualified as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
