Gerry Mallon Chief Executive

Gerry has been Chief Executive of Tesco Bank since August 2018 and is a member of the Tesco PLC Executive Committee.

Prior to joining Tesco, Gerry has held a number of leadership roles in financial services, including as Chief Executive Officer of Ulster Bank Ireland and as Chief Executive Officer of Danske Bank UK (formerly Northern Bank). Earlier in his career, Gerry also held roles at McKinsey & Co., and the UK Civil Service.

Outside of financial services, Gerry served as Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council at the University of Ulster and President of the Institute of Banking in Ireland, and recently completed a six-year term as Chairman of the Irish Football Association.  He was appointed a Board Member of Foundation of Hearts Limited in December 2021.

Gerry holds an Economics degree from Cambridge University and received his MBA from Ulster Business School.

Richard Henderson Chief Financial Officer

Richard is the Chief Financial Officer.  Richard joined Tesco Bank in June 2009 and has performed the roles of Audit Director, Finance Director (Banking), Financial & Credit Risk Director and Chief Risk Officer.    

Before joining Tesco Bank, Richard held a range of internal audit roles with RBS and Barclays. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in external audit. 

Richard is a graduate of The University of Nottingham, has an MBA from The University of Edinburgh, is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA), and is an Associate Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (AMCT).

Lynne Rennie-Smith People Director

Lynne is Tesco Bank's Director of Colleague Experience.

She joined Tesco Bank in October 2021 as Head of Colleague Experience.

Prior to joining Tesco Bank, Lynne held a range of senior human resources and colleague-focused roles in both the financial services industry with Nationwide, Ulster Bank Ireland and NatWest, as well as within retail with House of Fraser.

Lynne is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and is currently working towards her ILM 7 Accreditation as an Executive Coach.

Debbie Walker Chief Risk Officer

Debbie joined Tesco Bank in August 2017 and performed the role of Head of Risk Operations and then Compliance and Conduct Risk Director.  She was appointed to the role of Interim Chief Risk Officer in June 2021 before being appointed as the Chief Risk Officer in January 2022.

Prior to joining Tesco Bank, Debbie worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, across a wide variety of commercial and risk management roles in both Corporate and Retail Banking. 

​Debbie is a Chartered Banker, has an MBA from the University of Edinburgh and a BA Honours degree in Economics from Heriot Watt University. She is also the Sponsor of the Wome​n at Tesco network at Tesco Bank.

 

Gail Goldie Chief Banking Officer

Gail is Tesco Bank’s Chief Banking Officer, where she is responsible for the bank’s savings and lending products. Gail joined Tesco Bank in September 2021 as Product Director, Banking and Group propositions. Gail was appointed Interim Chief Customer Officer in April 2022, and Chief Banking Officer in July 2022.

Before joining Tesco Bank, Gail held a number of roles at Barclays UK including, MD, Premier Banking and MD, Credit Cards and Unsecured Loans. Gail has also held leadership roles at Santander and American Express.

Gail has a degree from the University of Warwick and a postgraduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Gary Duggan Chief Insurance Officer

Gary joined Tesco Underwriting as its Chief Executive Officer in July 2021. He is also the Chief Insurance Officer and a member of the Tesco Bank Executive Committee.

He has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services and insurance industry, running large scale businesses in the UK, Asia and the Middle East.

Gary’s previous roles included Senior Advisor at Oxbow Partners, CEO of Saga Services and Managing Director at BGL.

Fiona Burden Legal Director & Company Secretary

Fiona joined the Executive Committee as Legal Director & Company Secretary in February 2022. Fiona joined Tesco Bank in 2013 working in a variety of legal roles and since July 2019, has been Head of Legal. More recently, Fiona has been acting as Interim Head of Supplier Management. Prior to joining Tesco Bank, Fiona also spent time in a range of commercial and corporate roles in private practice law firms, Aviva and Standard Life. Fiona is dual qualified in Scots and English law.
