Men, mean it more this Valentine’s Day

Men, be warned! Women look set to tug on the purse strings, not the heart strings this Valentine’s Day.
New research carried out by Tesco Bank into relationships borne out of the recession has shown that the majority of men (69%) plan to spend up to five times as much as women on romantics gifts and treats this Sunday.
Just over half of women have set a budget limit of £10 for their man, while most men will be spending between £20 and £50 on their loved ones
Across the nation, pockets of high spending new romantics can be found. The Scots are emerging this year as some of the most generous Valentine’s Day spenders in the UK. Edinburgh is home to the most extravagant of the new romantic couples with 7% planning to spend over £200, closely followed by couples in Leicester and Aberdeen.

“This year it seems that men are the new romantics, and the recession hasn’t put a damper on their Valentine’s Day spending. Love is definitely in the air for Scots this year, with both Edinburgh and Aberdeen among the top spending cities.”
