Tesco Bank Football Challenge returns to Perth

Today (Wednesday 1st May) children from five local primary schools across Perth and Kinross had an amazing morning of football and fun at the Tesco Bank Football Challenge Festival at McDairmid Park as St Johnstone assistant manager Tommy Wright and first team players paid a special visit to the 300 participants.
The schools are the latest to have taken part in six weeks of coaching sessions as part of the Scottish FA’s flagship participation programme and are now coming together for a finale to remember.
The Tesco Bank Football Challenge is a four-year community programme run in partnership with the Scottish FA. The project introduces football to Primary two and Primary three children (six to eight years old) across Scotland to help get them engage in a healthy and active lifestyle.
Over 50,000 children have now benefited from the Scottish FA’s flagship participation programme, which was recognised by UEFA, winning a silver grassroots award last season.
St Johnstone assistant manager Tommy Wright said,
“St Johnstone has been heavily involved in the delivery of this project since it’s inception. We’re really proud to be a part of the Tesco Bank Football Challenge. It’s brilliant to see so many local children enjoying football with their local club."
Scottish FA football development officer Dave Black said,
“The Tesco Bank Football Challenge continues to grow from strength to strength and we’re pleased to welcome the children to Perth for this latest festival.”

The primary schools attending the festival were: Moncrieffe Primary School, Guildtown Primary School, Auchtergaven Primary School, Kinnoull Primary School, Murthly Primary School, Robert Douglas Memorial Primary School, Glendelvine Primary School, Craigie Primary School, Oakbank Primary School, Collace Primary School,Balbeggie Primary School and Inchview Primary School.
