Tesco Bank launches new charity partners at Tesco ATMs
26 March 2015
Today, Tesco Bank has announced the new charities that Tesco customers can donate to at more than 2,700 cash machines located at its stores.
Tesco customers can donate up to £300 in one ATM transaction from their own bank account to one of seven charities – all of whom are partnering with Tesco Bank for this initiative.
Customers can now choose to donate directly to the British Heart Foundation (BHF), Children with Cancer UK, NSPCC ChildLine, Tommy’s and YoungMinds, in addition to Diabetes UK and the Disasters Emergency Committee, which were already part of the scheme.
The initiative was originally launched in June 2012, as part of an ATM partnership with LINK to support the Government’s ‘Giving’ initiative, to encourage new and innovative ways to raise funds for charities. Since then, more than £270,000 has already been donated by generous Tesco customers.
Tesco Bank’s existing community programme focuses on providing opportunities for young people, and employees were asked to vote for the children’s charities they would like see benefit from this programme. Diabetes UK and the BHF are also included as part of the fundraising for Tesco’s National Charity Partnership, as well as the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). DEC is being supported by all banks providing this initiative.
Adele Mills, Tesco Bank’s Senior Community Investment Manager, said,
"Tesco Bank has a proud record of fundraising for worthy causes and for supporting the communities in which we operate. I am delighted that even more charities will be able to benefit, while giving Tesco customers a convenient and safe way to donate to charity."
This initiative is in addition to Tesco Bank’s existing ATM charity programme, where Tesco Bank make a donation to Tesco’s National Charity Partnership each time a customer uses a Tesco ATM machine*.
