Tesco Bank makes mobile banking easier with Touch ID and Android Fingerprint

Tesco Bank has added Touch ID and Android Fingerprint to its Mobile Banking App making it quicker and easier for customers to access their money on the move. By enabling Touch ID or Android Fingerprint in our App, customers can log in to their accounts using just their fingerprint, and can also authenticate other in-app functions, making managing their finances just that little bit easier.

“We launched our App two years ago and are always asking our customers what they will find most helpful. These latest additions make it even easier for customers to manage their money and is just one of the ways that we’re making our products as simple and helpful as possible.”
All customers need to do to use Touch ID or Android Fingerprint is to enable it in their device settings and make sure that they have downloaded the latest version of our App. Customers will then receive a prompt to help them set up Touch ID or Android Fingerprint and as always they can manage their preferences at any time via our App’s settings menu.
This latest update to our App comes promptly after two new additions in our considerable feature set. These include the ability to set up and edit Direct Debits for credit card payments, and the ability to activate new credit and debit cards.

Notes to Editors:
- Touch ID can be used on iPhone 5S, SE, 6, 6s, 6 Plus or 6s Plus devices with an iOS9 or higher operating system. Please note that Touch ID for our app will not be available for iPads.
- Android Fingerprint can be used on devices that have the latest Android operating system, Android Marshmallow, installed and have fingerprint sensor hardware. Android devices vary considerably across device manufacturers, as such some devices, including Samsung Galaxy S5, may not be compatible with Android Fingerprint.

These include – In-App messaging to help customers avoid current account charges, the ability to add, delete and pay new payees in seconds, and balance peek which allows customers to quickly check their account balance on their smartphone or Apple Watch without having to log in to the mobile app.
