Little moments, big brands - Tesco launches third party digital gifting service

Tesco has announced the launch of a service which allows customers to purchase personalised digital gift cards from major third-party brands online.
Tesco is already one of the leading sellers of gift cards in the UK through its network of stores, and brands including Apple, Google, Costa, Spotify and H&M will now be available online too.
This innovative digital gifting solution, managed by Tesco Bank, allows customers to purchase digital gift cards and personalise them with a message and digital unwrapping to give meaningful gifting experiences at a time when many customers are opting to shop online.
Customers can choose from more than 15 brands, spanning multiple categories including fashion, music, apps, gaming, dining out and entertainment. When purchased the e-gift card is delivered to the recipient via email, with plans in the pipeline to also introduce sending via SMS. This service helps to create those little moments between family, friends and colleagues who are unable to spend time together and want to send a little treat for a special occasion or simply to help make them smile.
The launch follows recent research by Tesco that found while the majority of people (70%) view gift cards as good presents to receive due to the choice and flexibility they offer, one in two (50%) believe they are not as exciting to open as a ‘wrapped’ gift, and 42% feel they are impersonal. The innovative gifting solution addresses these perceptions by providing the recipient with a surprise personalised digital unwrapping experience.
