Tesco Bank appoints Jacqui Ferguson as Interim Chair

Jacqui Ferguson has been appointed interim Chair of the Tesco Bank Board with immediate effect. She replaces Sir John Kingman who has stepped down from the Board, effective from 22 January 2023, ahead of his future appointment to the Board of Barclays PLC and as Chair of Barclays Bank UK PLC on 1 June 2023.
An experienced portfolio Non-Executive Director, Chair and former CEO from the technology industry with over 30 years’ experience, Jacqui is a former CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services UK & MEA, a business serving large corporate and mid-sized companies with transformational digital, technology and business process solutions.
Jacqui joined the Tesco Bank Board in April 2018. She has served as Tesco Bank’s Senior Independent Non-Executive Director since September 2021 and will be replaced in this role on an interim basis by Robert Endersby.
Tesco Bank will now begin a search process for a permanent Chair.
Tesco Bank has also appointed Prasanna Gopalakrishnan as a Non-Executive Director. She is the Group Chief Technology Officer of Sky Group, Europe’s leading media and entertainment company, where she is responsible for setting the technology vision, objectives, and operating model for all Sky’s European territories.

- Jacqui Ferguson is also a Non-Executive Director at Wood PLC, a FTSE listed international engineering services company; Non-Executive Director at FTSE 100 Croda PLC, a sustainability leader and speciality ingredients company; and Deputy Chair at Engineering UK, an industry backed charity focused on inspiring young people from all kinds of diverse backgrounds into engineering and technology careers.
In 2018 she won the Sunday Times ‘NED to watch’ award and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
- Prior to working at Sky Group Prasanna Gopalakrishnan was the Managing Director and Chief Information Officer of Consumer Technology Business Operations at Bank of America. She has also held senior positions at Boston Private, Harvard University, Fidelity Investments, Thomson Reuters, and State Street Bank.
As a vocal advocate for women in technology Prasanna has been a strong promoter of diversity and inclusion throughout her career and she serves in various capacities to develop women into leadership roles.
Prasanna holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University, USA and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, India.
- Robert Endersby has spent almost 40 years working in the financial services sector. Until late 2014, he was Chief Risk Officer and member of the Executive Board of Danske Bank, Denmark's largest financial enterprise, where he was also a member of the board of directors of the group's main UK and Finnish subsidiaries. Between 2016 and 2019, Robert was an independent non-executive director and chair of the board risk committees of Credit Suisse International and Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Limited. Robert is also currently an independent non-executive director and chair of the board risk committee of Redwood Bank Limited. Previously, Robert has held senior risk management positions in Barclays, The Royal Bank of Scotland and ING Group and has a broad international experience of the sector including assignments based in Denmark, The Netherlands and France. Robert joined the Tesco Bank Board in December 2014 and currently chairs the Board Risk Committee.
