Tesco Bank make senior appointment to lead ATM network

Tesco Bank has appointed Anthony Rice as its new Head of ATMs.

He will be responsible for managing Tesco Bank’s ATM network, which is the third largest in the UK, accounting for 15% of all cash withdrawals made.

Anthony will also oversee the continued implementation of Tesco Bank’s ATM modernisation programme. The programme is central to Tesco Bank’s commitment to the protection of free access to cash and will see ATMs replaced with newer models at around 1,400 Tesco stores across the country by 2023.

The programme will retain free access to cash in all of the communities that Tesco Bank already serves, meaning Tesco shoppers will continue to have a safe, reliable and convenient way to access their cash – free of charge - from machines at 3,100 Tesco and One Stop stores across the country.

Anthony has worked in the financial and money services industry for 20 years, most recently as Chief Executive of Fourex, the self-service currency exchange organisation.

Anthony previously held several positions during 10 years at Travelex, including a role in charge of the company’s North American ATM network, before going on to lead the growth of its global ATM estate.

Upon leaving Travelex, Anthony was appointed as Head of Business Development, ATMs and Dynamic Currency Conversion, at international payment processing firm, Planet. He begins his role today, reporting to Tesco Bank’s Head of Money Services, Ban Mahsoub.

Welcoming the appointment, Sigga Sigurdardottir, Chief Customer Officer, Tesco Bank, said:

“Tesco Bank has the largest bank-owned ATM network in the UK, and we understand the vital role our ATMs play in the daily lives of shoppers. I’m delighted that Anthony is joining our team to lead our commitment to this vital service.

“Anthony’s passion and leadership will add real value to our work to protect free access to cash in the communities we serve.  We are committed to Tesco stores remaining a safe, reliable and convenient way for customers to access their cash in the future.”
