Local charity partners
Our colleagues are passionate about supporting their local communities through volunteering and fundraising.
In 2018, colleagues from our offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle selected our current local charity partners - LifeCare, The Beatson Cancer Charity and The People's Kitchen.
Edinburgh - LifeCare
LifeCare provide extra years of zest to older people and those living with dementia in Edinburgh. Making someone smile, helping them to keep doing the things they love, no matter how old they are, is vital in the fight against loneliness and isolation and to offer the best care with a difference. The charity provide elderly people the power of music and dance, bringing joy to their lives through stimulating conversation and interaction to help them maintain a healthy memory.
Operating for over 70 years, LifeCare supports over 500 clients and welcomes 80,000 visitors to their centre in Stockbridge, Edinburgh each year.
Glasgow - The Beatson Cancer Charity
The Beatson Cancer Charity is an international renowned cancer centre and the busiest in the UK in terms of clinical activity and patient numbers, as well as being the second largest cancer centre in the UK. They aim to make the journey easier by transforming the way cancer is funded and cared for, as well as providing fund specialists, research, and education to invest in a better future for cancer patients and their families.
Alarmingly, more than one in three people are affected by cancer in the West of Scotland, the highest rate in Europe, and so from the hospital wards, right to the heart of the communities that The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre serves, they believe no one should experience cancer without care, without love, and without hope. They stand with their patients, and their families, at every step of the journey.
Newcastle - The People's Kitchen
The People's Kitchen provide food, friendship, healthcare, and accommodation signposting to the homeless and vulnerable people of Newcastle. The charity has successfully been delivering this service for 30 years with the past support of over 50 companies, trusts, and foundations. The People's Kitchen were awarded the Queen's Award for charity in 2014 and are managed by four Trustees and a Kitchen Council.
With over 200 volunteers, The People's Kitchen provide a huge range of support including 11 weekly meal time sessions, 40,000 hot meals per year, a nearly new clothing programme, and collaborate with other charities to signpost mental health, healthcare, accommodation and training.
